CMC Markets: We offer a range of flexible risk management tools including stop orders, limits and OCOs. All of these orders can be placed online and are free to use. Controlled Risk Bets (CRBs) incur a small premium.
Spread Betting Trading Centre: What type of background checks, if any, do you require for clients?
CMC Markets: Clients are subject to an identity check which we can do online. If a customer hasn’t been resident at their home for more that two years we may need to see two copies of ID such as a utility bill for proof of residence and passport for proof identity etc. We do this to comply with Money Laundering regulation and know you customer policy set by the FSA.
Spread Betting Trading Centre: Do you offer your services to international clients and do you exclude particular countries because of rules and regulations with gambling?
CMC Markets: Our service offering really varies according to local financial regulation. Spread betting and its tax benefits are only available to those resident in the UK and Ireland, so overseas we offer CFD and FX trading. CFD trading has become immensely popular in the last couple of years in Europe, Asia and Australia. Our FX products are available in the US and China.
Spread Betting Trading Centre: What are the current most popular spread bets that you are seeing?
CMC Markets: With UK clients the UK stock market is always a popular one and with equities so strong over recent years, interest continues to increase in this area. Currencies have definitely increased in popularity over the years and with the pound firmly through the two dollar mark, there has been a lot of activity here over recent weeks.
Spread Betting Trading Centre: Have any sectors, stocks, indices etc fallen out of favour recently?
CMC Markets: None that spring to mind – if a market drops in volatility it can sees traders desert it but with markets as active as they have been there are none that stick out.
